
One of my favorite things about graphic design is the use of text and typography. I have a love for typography like nobody knows, whether it’s the hand-written moleskine pages or good old Helvetica, I love it!
Good use of text and fonts can make a design in itself, however bad use of text can easily break the design. When using text and fonts there are a few necessities to consider that will keep your artwork flowing the way you intend it to. (more…)

Sorry guys, no Friday Finds post this week. I’ve been too busy with finals and freelancing to surf the internet. So, I thought I’d show you some of my recent personal work. Not sure if it’s inspiring, but hopefully it’s nice to look at.
I’ve been in the process of putting together my portfolio for several months and I finally think I’m ready to send it to print. I have created a lot of pieces this year for Dunlap Studios but also for personal ventures as well. So, I decided to do a 2008 portfolio showcasing my favorite projects. I am hoping that I’ll have many more for the years to come and be able to do a new portfolio showcase each year. (more…)

Proportion is something that a lot designers don’t think about. They go off of instinct and use their eye to determine what looks good. But, I know from experience, you shouldn’t be trusting your eyes after staring at a screen for a long time.
Proportion is the key element that causes the design to flow. If your text is a little too far to the left, or if you have an over abundance of images in a certain area, it can cause that area to be too heavy and throw off the entire design. (more…)
